My top 5 foundations
Within the past few years, I have tried a tonne of foundations and I have narrowed it down to my favourite 5 foundations.
My skin is combination - It is normal everywhere apart from around the nose and slightly on the forehead, however, if I powder my t-zone well I can use luminous foundations, so these are my favourite foundations which can suit almost all skin types.
Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless (£6.99 / 30ml): This is my go-to daytime foundation and I go between the shades 128 and 220. It was designed for people with normal to oily skin, it has a medium coverage with a semi-matte finish. This foundation is formulated with micro powders within it which help refine the pores while shine is being absorbed. I like to apply this with my damp Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge or with my Zoeva 102 Silk Finish Brush.
Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation (£29 / 30ml): This is my favourite go-to occasion foundation when I don't want to worry about touch-ups. It's full coverage with a matte finish which is why I don't think this is a foundation for everyone and for me personally one I could not wear every day. I recommend this for normal to oily skin. The formula is made with 25% pigment and other light diffusing pigments to help blur flaws and has waterproof properties within it. I'd test this foundation first in store or ask for a sample and let it dry down completely because once it sets the shade changes slightly - I use the shade 5.0 and prefer this with my Real Techniques Sponge to add a bit of moisture to the foundation.
Too faced Born This Way Foundation (£29 / 30ml): This foundation has a medium buildable coverage, it is infused with coconut water which makes it perfect for dry/normal skin as it helps balance the skins hydration levels without over hydrating and alpine rose which helps brighten the skins appearance and promote elasticity to the skin. Born this way is also oil free which is great for those with oily skin so long as the skin is powered well. This is my favourite when I'm not wanting a heavy matte coverage like my urban decay foundation - I use the shade warm nude with either a brush or sponge.
Mac Studio Fix (£23.50 / 30ml): An oldie but a goodie, This is a great foundation that I can always rely on, it has a natural matte finish and has a medium buildable coverage, it's a great foundation for the shade variety. It is oil-free and has oil control properties within it. This is my favourite foundation for in my professional makeup kit due to the variety of shades and the long wear, and if you have dry skin, this can still work so long as you do a hydrating base before the foundation.
EX1 Foundation (£12.50 / 30ml): My last favourite! This is a foundation that has a lightweight luminous finish and is also suitable for dry skin along with it being oil-free if you are slightly oily. This provides a medium coverage and comes in mainly yellow toned shades. I like to use the shade 5.0/6.0.
Lastly, I would like to apologise for the lack of posts that I have made and I hope to be getting back into a routine from now on as I now have a lot of new ideas for future posts!
